Skills pay the bills. It sounds like you are probably well conditioned so get to a jiu-jitsu place and a boxing/kickboxing place and work on skills.

Go to the Ju jitsu gym and someone there will most likely be into MMA and help you find somewere to further your other skills stricking, kickboxing, and further your already good wrestling skills. Ju Jitsu you should take advantage of and you will most likely transition well from wrestling. It wont be easy it is much different but if you have perseverance you will be just fine. it is a lot of work followed by more work. It would be a great start. The gracies have done pretty well for themselves dont you think?

Firt off, start by finding as much fight footage as possible and watch it over and over again. Decide if its really right for you. The more footage you watch, the more you learn. No one really knew what a triangle choke or a ge-a-tine (?) was, yet we could probably all pull one off if we needed too.
Go online. Look for fighting instruction videos. They are much cheaper.
Then when you find a specific style you really like. Go with it and research ways to train.
Anyone who watches MMA nowadays knows, the more different styles you know, the better off you are.
If jui jitsu is all thats in you area, take it for a year or two, while researching other styles, then move on.

You can also try to contact some of the organizations represented on the UFC or WEC. They probably won’t take a novice but I bet they can direct you to the proper places. There may even be an MMA gym close to you that they know about.
